Pondering : Disappointment

03 August 2010

I have two wonderful friends. These women are two of the most compassionate and supportive women in my life. They have given me so much understanding, strength and encouragement through so of the toughest moments of my life. I am forever greatful to have them in my life.

Sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve such amazing friends. While I always have them in my thoughts and remind myself daily to make contact, life gets in the way. I get so wrapped up in what’s going on in my own little world, that days turn into weeks and before I know it, it’s been a good month since we’ve had a good catch up.

The worst part is that these dear friends live more than 1500kms away in Melbourne, which makes it hard to pop round for a coffee when I have a couple of hours free. I worry that I don’t do enough to show my friends just how much I appreciate them. I try to be there for them through the good and the bad, but sometimes it just doesn’t feel like it’s enough, like I’m disappointing them.

How do you make your friends feel appreciated and loved? How do you maintain your important friendsips without letting everyday life take over?

  1. Hmm, this is tricky. I understand your anguish. My old school friends all live far away and even though contact isn't as regular as we'd like - we're all still there. You do what you can.

  2. I feel the same way too.....about friend's who don't live close....or friends who i love dearly...but life just gets in the way & we slowly lose touch! I guess the quickest thing to do to let someone know you care & are thinking about a quick hello text, a little hello on their facebook....or a random gift in the post :)
I'm sure your best friends know that you appreciate them and love them....just the fact that you've blogged about them....says a lot :)

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I love hearing what you have to say. xx
